Dr Niva Kaspi (PhD) is an accomplished Hebrew to English literary translator, and her work includes poetry, song lyrics, short stories, graphic literature, and children's' books. Niva received her PhD from the University of Western Australia, and her dissertation was described as "a true contribution to translation theory [which] promises to stimulate a whole body of research on the role of 'untranslatables'" (Professor Michael Keren). In addition to her translations, Niva published a book chapter, articles, and blogs.  She lives in Perth, Western Australia, where she also lectures and coordinates programs within a tertiary educational institution.

"As a researcher in translation studies, my creative work is infused with my knowledge of various theories and techniques. This allows me to make choices that are self-conscious and informed, but at the same time I insist on maintaining a degree of intuition and spontaneity in my work to capture the idiosyncrasies of the original text. My knowledge and love of music has influenced my work, and I often make choices based on the sound and texture of words, and on how the words resonate and fit together within the greater ‘melody’ of the text."
